Power Struggles

The more I talk with single parents the more I realize that there is such a power struggle between moms and dads putting their kids in the middle. Maybe it is outdoing one another on vacations. Maybe it is the Christmas presents. Or maybe it is just being the “cooler” parent.

I know I have experienced it several times in my own experiences and I am sure I am guilty (as much as I hate to admit it) to a point as well.  How much of a problem is this for everyone else?

I know that it is never good for the kids to be put in the middle. Is it a necessary evil? Is there a way out?  Thoughts anyone?
